DH release date rumour

The Leaky Cauldron is reporting a rumour that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be published on July 31, 2007. The exact date I was thinking would be perfect. It's Harry's Birthday, and Jo's birthday. The only problem with it is that in 2007, it's a Tuesday.

The source of the rumour is some sort of post with Baker & Taylor, a company that provides materials to school libraries. Scholastic is not confirming it, so who knows. Previously, there were people who preordered the book on Amazon's UK site got a computer-generated message saying the publication date was estimated to be Feb. 22 or 23, but this turned out to be an error.

I've gotten used to writing abbreviations for the various Harry Potter books: PoA for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, OoP for Order of the Phoenix, etc. DH just seems strange to write, somehow, though I guess that'll be the abreviation for book 7. ::::sigh::::

Whether to laugh or cry

On the same day that the title for the seventh Harry Potter book came out, we discovered that the comic strip FoxTrot will be Sundays-only starting in 2007. Apparently that was announced in early December, but we happened to find out about it approximately an hour after we learned the title of the new Harry Potter book.

We read FoxTrot every day in this house. We have all the books from both Harry Potter and FoxTrot, but we have many FoxTrot pictures on our fridge and no Harry Potter pictures there. We're fans of both, so we're not sure how to take this mixed message.

It's probably not legal to change the wording of someone else's comic strip and post it on the net, but I just had to find a creative outlet for my emotions on contemplating this situation, so here's what I came up with:

What's this all about?

I started this blog the day after Jo Rowling announced the title of the seventh and final Harry Potter novel. I decided I wanted a place online to talk about this book, both before and after it comes out.

I've been a fan of Luna since we first met her on the Hogwarts Express in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. So I decided to use the name of her father's magazine for my blog. My screenname on various Harry Potter forums is Mrs. Lovegood (or MrsLovegood).

What I want to do here is post news and theories about Book 7. I may occasionally stray from that, but that's my basic focus. I can't wait for it to come out and I can't help but try to figure out things about it -- what will happen, etc.

I want to make a few predictions right here, right now. First, we will have a publication date for the book on or before Valentines' Day, 2007. Second, it will be published before Sept. 1st, 2007. Third, you know how the titles on the Scholastic editions all have a sort of metallic colored lettering for the Harry Potter part, and then the rest of the title is different, more part of the picture on the cover. Well, I believe and predict that the Harry Potter letters on the cover of the Scholastic edition of book 7 will be a red metallic color. I also wouldn't be surprised if there were a graveyard on the cover, or at least that one scene in the book takes place in a graveyard or cemetery.

I guess that's enough for now. I'll post more of my thoughts later. I hope anyone who visits will post in the comments, I'd love to hear from you.
