The Leaky Cauldron is reporting a rumour that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be published on July 31, 2007. The exact date I was thinking would be perfect. It's Harry's Birthday, and Jo's birthday. The only problem with it is that in 2007, it's a Tuesday.
The source of the rumour is some sort of post with Baker & Taylor, a company that provides materials to school libraries. Scholastic is not confirming it, so who knows. Previously, there were people who preordered the book on Amazon's UK site got a computer-generated message saying the publication date was estimated to be Feb. 22 or 23, but this turned out to be an error.
I've gotten used to writing abbreviations for the various Harry Potter books: PoA for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, OoP for Order of the Phoenix, etc. DH just seems strange to write, somehow, though I guess that'll be the abreviation for book 7. ::::sigh::::

Whether to laugh or cry
On the same day that the title for the seventh Harry Potter book came out, we discovered that the comic strip FoxTrot will be Sundays-only starting in 2007. Apparently that was announced in early December, but we happened to find out about it approximately an hour after we learned the title of the new Harry Potter book.
We read FoxTrot every day in this house. We have all the books from both Harry Potter and FoxTrot, but we have many FoxTrot pictures on our fridge and no Harry Potter pictures there. We're fans of both, so we're not sure how to take this mixed message.
It's probably not legal to change the wording of someone else's comic strip and post it on the net, but I just had to find a creative outlet for my emotions on contemplating this situation, so here's what I came up with:
